The Fursuit Ring

This is a ring for mascot and animal costumers, performers and builders of all types. Open to all who have fursuit content on their pages and wanting to help share information.

This webring is made, driven, organised and kept alive by fursuiters for fursuiters or people who just ask why and how furry animal costumes are made. Originally created by SuperJay (I believe), I am now running it after the ring was put up for adoption, probably by one of Webring's automated systems.

Want to join to the ring?

  1. Construct your site. I will need to be able to review your site content to see if it matches the goals of the ring, and this can't be done until those pages are in place. It doesn't have to be completely finished (how many web sites ever are?) but there needs to be enough to look at.

  2. Submit your site. Go to the ring hub page, and use the join button to submit your site. The procedures are updated from time to time, so just follow the instructions. You no longer have to create a Yahoo! ID to submit, and that is a good thing. You will need to provide an e-mail address, and it needs to be for an account that you do read. It may be necessary to contact you to sort out any issues; if this cannot be done then the site will not get approved.

When you are asked to provide the URL of your site make sure it is for the page that will have the WebRing navigation code on it when you are done. If you have given the URL of your top level page but the WebRing code is going to be on another page then I will not be able to add your site to the ring. Similarly if you have given the URL of a page that uses frames, and the WebRing code is in one of the frames then you will also have to include it in the "noframes" section on the original page.

I will begin looking at your site sometime after you submit it. This process may take a few weeks as I sometimes have to work away from home where my own net access is limited. I'll let you know whether your site will be accepted, or if their are elements that need work, or if it has been rejected.

  3. Add the navigation code to your site. If you like the small navigation bars then use the "Get Navigation Code" link on the administration page for your site, and cut and paste this into the page you gave the URL of. If you don't like the use of JavaScript to include the Server Side Navigation Bar (SSNB) then follow the "HTML Version" link at the bottom of the navigation code page.

Alternatively, you may prefer the old-style navigation that many of the original ring sites have (including this page). This requires you to be a little more careful about the HTML you add, so follow the instructions carefully.

  4. Wait for your page to be scanned. Once your site is approved, the Webring system will periodically scan your page to see if the navigation code is in place. Once it is detected, your site will be included in the ring. Alternatively you can provoke this scanning using the "test" link from the My Pages part of the Webring site.

New sites are added to the start of the ring, which helps to ensure they receive attention. The whole ring is now periodically re-ordered so that no one site is favoured.

For those of you already in the ring, you can modify your listing, (change the URL, your email address, your description, etc) by going here.
