So you think you're a wolf? Psychic gifts

This is a fictitious interview. My responses however are truthful.
Interviewer:
Your micro-psychokinesis results are back. They are statistically significant at the 5% confidence interval.

Me:
That would be about the same as when I was tested in my teens.

Interviewer:
You had a psychokinesis test as a teenager?

Me:
Yes, one of our biology teachers was a member of the British Psychical Research Society. He let us borrow his equipment: the Zener cards, a random number generator that was based on Radioactive decay...

Interviewer:
So you've known for a long time that you are psychically gifted?

Me:
You make it sound as though I'm some kind of Psi-mage. I have something I know that is a marginal effect. Its barely measurable, so I'm not going to be flinging glasses across the room by mental power alone. Sometimes though being able to sense things can be useful.

Interviewer:
Are all your kind psychic?

Me:
There you go again, trying to pigeon-hole us. Some claim to have it, others say they haven't. On the whole I'd say we have more gifted individuals than you might expect on average.

Interviewer:
Why is that?

Me:
In my opinion ... No, wait. Lets start at the beginning. I have this gift, which is not explained by any conventional scientific theory. That makes it paranormal in the literal sense:
lying outside the range of normal scientific investigations.
To my way of thinking there must be something, whether its a force, particle, wavelet, or whatever that conveys this ability. This force permeates everything, living or not.

Myself, and a few other furs call this force the "Great Energy Field", or GEF for short. Locandez originally postulated its existence, and gave it its name. I think we were all surprised to find others who thought it existed. Of course, there are areas of disagreement on how, and why it works. This is my version.

Interviewer:
So you're saying that we are all psychic?

Me:
I'm saying that we are all "connected" via this force, but we are also part of it. It is mutable, changing to encompass what we want. If you really believe you are not psychic then chances are you won't ever have a psychic experience - the Field adapts to cover your desires.

This is why I think psychic furs are more common. Not because being furry makes you psychic, but because discovering this weird furry thing already places you outside societies "norm", and you are more open to having experiences which that society would ridicule.

Interviewer:
So, if I really believe that I'm going to win the Lottery then I will win?

Me:
No, it doesn't work like that. As I said, the Field connects all things, all beings. By being connected to all things, the Field acquires a gestalt consciousness. It acts for the common good. If everyone else who had bought a ticket also believed you would win, then it might happen - but that's not at all likely is it! If they genuinely believed you would win the other's wouldn't have bought a ticket.

Interviewer:
If I was the only ticket holder I would win!

Me:
Yes, but you wouldn't need any kind of paranormal explanation to explain it would you.

Interviewer:
You mentioned earlier that you suspected that the GEF helped you to realize your furriness. Why did it do that?

Me:
Well, first of all I wasn't going to find it by myself, I did need to be given a prod or three in the right direction. Looking back, the FAQ was the third and most blatant time I'd had furry stuff waved under my nose. Around six months earlier I'd come across one of Taura Learfox's images on one of the usenet binary groups. Three months after that I'd found the art materials FAQ written by all these people with odd sounding names. There were links at the bottom of that document to the core furry FAQs. I'd stored them away in my "to visit" file, but never done so.

As far as the field is concerned, there's no negative impact to anyone else, so no conditions that might prevent the Field from helping. At the time, there was one known fur on this island, and I think he wanted to find like minded folks nearby.

Both of these are fairly marginal cases, but there's a much bigger reason. This planet needs furries, intelligent folks with a mindset that allows them to understand nature.

Ever wondered why there are so many of us on the 'net right now?
