Anthrocon 2000

This year, save for some delays inbound a Philly airport, the whole travel thing went smoothly. The Wednesday didn't consist of much more than arriving, checking in, room service, and falling asleep.

Thursday 29 June:

Surfaced a little late, and watched a worrying succession of "suits" arrive for business meetings. Definitely not our kind. Breakfast at Michaels Deli, where they seemed happy to have furries back in town, was followed by a trip to ACME for essentials (coke, cookies, fruit, ground coffee, and spare filters).

Met Harry Bear (determined to be first and last furry at the conference), and Ivan Repin in the foyer. Treated to an in-depth examination of his Tiger Tim costume, which features and aluminium and polyurethane spine and tail. Very impressive! Shame there were only photos of the fire breathing dragon.

Like many others we lurked around waiting for registration to open, curious about the arrangement, and re-arrangement, of the velvet rope. Sandroo just beat me through the system (and I was the sponsor!), but all went smoothly - thanks to the staff.

After a hunt for a suitably flat and grassy spot, Louve and Chik'ki's wedding ceremony went very well. After all the problems, doubt, and confusion it was good to see these friends joined together at last in a suitably furry ceremony. I hope we will see them together at many Anthrocons to come. And for all those who've ever been tempted to tie a ribbon on another furs tail, they found out just how hard it can be! Just to round it off the cake, complete with Smrgol's customised bride and groom, was both beautiful and tasty.
