Anthrocon 1999

Friday 2 July:

This is where my perception of time starts to get a little screwy - I've had to piece together stuff by trying to relate what I remember to the things recorded in the Programming schedule and my palm pilot. Chik'ki arrived with Ludwig, and some good news about Louve. Went for a wander around the artists alley & dealer areas. Of course the first we came to was Chris Johnson and his tails. I _had_ to have one. I didn't actually buy much else: a copy of "Fang, Claw & Steel", some of Kyo's prints, and one from Paf. Those fairy griffin things certainly appealled, but the price and the likelyhood of getting it home in one piece put me off.

Went back to the room to attach my tail, and get some room service. One of the problems with being with furs is timing my medication which has to be taken regularly, and 20mins before eating - the furry hysteresis which surrounds finding food makes this a no-hoper. On the otherhand I'm pretty sure I had lunch twice one day: once in the room, and then a starter from the bar when we ate with Atara, Plonq & some other furs. I _love_ the tail, it feels so natural. In fact the oddest thing was taking it off. I was suprised to get a few compliments - and I didn't hesitate to tell folks who I'd bought it from.

I met Ambergold and the elusive Skytech just before the spirituality meet, the first actual panel I attended. Arranged to have dinner at the Kobe with a variable number of furs (a true recipriverse exclusion - ie. any number other than itself, and varying between about 12 and 27). I was at the carnivore end of the table with Tir, Ambergold, and Chris (who I spent a great deal of time talking to, and he added several suggestions to my growing reading list ;). We missed the start of Kage's story hour, and I also found I was missing one of my credit cards. After the stories I got Swampy to go back to the room with me and assist in my controlled panic. I found the thing in my passport - it must have been there since registration.

I went back down to see the airbrush demo - but things weren't going well for Kyo. The room had been locked, re-located, twice, and his compressor had packed in. In the end there were three of us, including Kyo, but we did have a good talk.
