Much of the groundwork was done many years ago in an attempt to improve upon the likes of virtual feeder and feeder fantasy creating something that was more of a game. Currently it is little more than an experiment and is here mainly to test the deployment process.
The game should work on the following operating systems if you have a modern Java runtime: Linux (x86, x86-64bit), OSX (Lion onwards), Windows (XP onwards). You might see prompts to install or upgrade Java or JavaFX.
It is anticipated that the next Java update will prevent unsigned code from running in the browser or via webstart. As this game does not have a trusted signed certificate (those cost money and this is just a hobby project) This means that these versions will no longer work.
If you want to play after this release use the zip download option.
Linux users will need to install the Java 7u21 or later
runtime from java.com
and use the 32bit version to play in-browser.
The GNU JVM and OpenJDK doesn't have the JavaFX bits (yet).
You may also have to configure the Java plugin manually, so read
the installation instructions.
MAC/OSX users will need to download and install the
Oracle built Java from java.com.
The old Apple Java runtime one won't cut it.
If you have a fresh OSX install you may need to put Apple's
Java on first, then the Oracle one.
Rasberry Pi users can find a developer preview of a Linux
ARM JRE if you sign into Oracle Technical Network.
Current version of the game is 0.13, and the UI is 0.13, you may need to shift-refresh to reload a newer version.
