The Furvey

The furvey is a furry lifestyle related questionnaire. It can be used as a template for introducing yourself to alt.lifestyle.furry. It may also be used as a tool to explore your own furry thoughts and feelings.

This is a web based version of the furvey I posted to alt.lifestyle.furry on the 17th May 2000. The only changes have been to suit the advantages of HTML formatting. The furvey is broken down into a number of sections:

Furvey - Yourself

1. What is your name?

David Cooke. I'm not in the habit of using an alias for net activity. I tend to use a nick when I can't enter my full name, so I'm Konig on rare IRC appearances, and DingoTush on Napster.

2. What is your email address?
[if you are concerned about spam, you can replace the @ with a %]

dave%konig.demon.co.uk is my home account. I also use konig%my-deja.com and konig%doglover.com occasionally. I have a number of work related account which I won't list here.

3. Are you male or female?

Male.

4. How old are you? / What is your date of birth?

34 years old, born 25th June 1965.

5. Where do you live?

Milton Keynes, England. That's in the South of England if you want to look for it on a map, about halfway between Birmingham and London.

6. What are your interests/hobbies?

Electronic design and construction, programming, airbrush, photography, reading (SF/fantasy) walking, drawing.

7. What do you do for a living?

I'm a programmer, and work for a small consultancy firm in London. Our clients are mainly financial institutions. I'm involved in Object-Oriented design, working in Java and C++. I've also spent about 7 years working as an electronics designer, mainly on networking equipment.

8. How would you describe your personality?

Cautious, quiet, loyal, playful, patient. I can also be forceful and controlling when these qualities are needed. I suffer from a rather black and white view of right and wrong, and can be quickly riled by those who are greedy, who don't know the boundaries of their knowledge, or who seek to blame others.

9. Do you believe in ESP? Do you consider yourself to be psychic?

Yes, I do believe in ESP and other related effects, and I consider myself psychic. One of the biology teachers at my school was a member (he may still be) of the Society for Psychical Research. I repaired some of his testing equipment, and also tried it out. I had statistically significant results (5% ci) on ESP and micro-psychokinesis (uPK).

Later, while investigating the behaviour of a metastable circuit I may have run across more evidence of uPK. I hope to investigate this more thoroughly at some point.

10. Are you a meat eater?

Yes, though I have experimented with Vegetarianism in the past. These days I can't as I suffer from Crohn's disease. Nuts, pulses and greens are now off limits. I really miss things like sweet corn, peas, cashews, oatmeal, and salad.
